Hundreds of years before the coming of Christ, Isaiah predicted the components of the coming of the “Kingdom of Heaven” inscribed in the Gospel of Matthew, and breathed into the Gospel of John.
When the Holy Spirit inaugurated the advancement of the kingdom, we see Jesus at a synagogue in His hometown of Nazareth revealing the planting of the first flag of declaration with these words: ”Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”
Listen to both the Old Testament and New Testament parts to God’s brilliant plan to build and establish a people for His Glory.

Do you have any role models? The world offers up people like Kanye West, Lady Gaga, and the like.
Some role models want us to be like them…but is there maybe a better role model for us?

Traveling for most people may be a blast, but for Pastor Johnny, driving anywhere for more then a couple hours is just not worth it! Especially if he doesn’t get anything out of it.
As we venture into this study of the traveling Magi, you have to wonder, what made their trip so worth it?

There is a phrase in Romans 13 that gives urgency to the teaching Paul is presenting… “Understanding the present time, the hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.”
This is a teaching that everyone needs to understand. It is the difference between eternal life and eternal death. It is the difference between having a relationship with God and fooling yourself into believing you have one, but don’t.
The teaching is not cryptic. It is clear and understandable and therefore we are responsible for it.

Shachah – the hebrew root word for worship, means to bow down, crouch, fall down flat, pay homage to.
It is in the new testament that we find God seeking for a specific kind of worshiper. One who openly and genuinely comes before him with lifted hands of surrender, and hearts available to transform…so that he can make them a new creation.

Understanding our world is critical if we are going to reach them. The sinful life spirals out of control until it reaches a terrible point…the depraved mind. This morning we are going to talk about the children (or the fruit) of a depraved mind. There are some scary things about God’s revelation in the first chapter of Romans.
They may look and feel familiar. You may have seen some of these in your circle of friends or family. First, we are going to look at the children themselves and then we are going to give you God’s answer to the issue. Their names are senseless, faithless, heartless and ruthless.

Now, that’s pretty surprising when you consider that we are told that there were something like 120 people there! When was the last time you saw 120 people “really” in unison? I mean together body, mind and soul for one purpose.
How wonderful would that be to really see unison. Pastor Steve O’Brien says, “I have dreamed of what that would look like but unfortunately, I have never seen it in reality.” One person put it this way… “It’s always something.” There is always something that brings discord. There is always something that sets us off to running in a direction directly opposing our brother or sister. Let’s read from Romans and Corinthians how this “Mosaic” should look.

Once upon a time Pastor Johnny was at the church on a rainy day. Later that night he walked out and found a man standing next to his car with a tiny umbrella over his head. Soaked to the gills, the man was staring at his back tire.
Immediately Johnny knew what to do, he went out to his car and talked to the man, asking him what he needed. The man said he had all the right equipment except a socket wrench for his tire.
Pastor went to his car and retrieved his own. Both men tried and tried to remove the tire, with no progress at all.
Soon a tow company came by and took care of the problem.
Curious, Pastor Johnny asked the tow truck driver why they couldn’t do the repair themselves. He answered “Your car is a Japanese model, his is an American model. There are two different measuring systems here, your tire wrench doesn’t fit his!”
The Gospel of Mark tells us a simliar story…
