Prophecies against many different peoples are proclaimed in today’s chapters.

God continues to state the case against Israel.

Again God warns of the coming wrath but then promises that He will forgive.

This is a pretty graphic depiction of God’s concept of how Israel was unfaithful to Him. Remember, He looked at Israel as His wife.

Newsflash: God’s attitude toward false prophets has not changed!

Something that the people of Israel said is very similar to what many in today’s time are saying: “God doesn’t see us. God is not here.” Listen to what God’s reply was to them.

Ezekiel receives instructions from God. Some of the instructions are highly unusual, to say the least!

Paul’s advice to Timothy regarding the treatment of some groups within his congregation is excellent, even for today. In the first chapter of Ezekiel, the prophet sees quite a vision. A wheel within a wheel, with some very strange sounding creatures.

The final chapter of Jeremiah talks about the fall of Jerusalem and the final days of Johoiachin, King of Judah. 1 Timothy is Paul’s letter of advice to his young protégé, a young pastor.

God’s judgment against Babylon is harsh. The prophecies of Jeremiah end with the end of today’s reading.
