With all the reading of battles and killing, what stands out to you the most in these chapters? In all my years of reading through these chapters, something new strikes me as never before.

Can you guess what it is?

Is it the same for you?

Reading these chapters, and juxtaposed with what has been happening over the last few months here in the U.S., the last sentences of chapters 11 and 14 sound like music to my ears.

Chapter 11 ends with, “Finally, there was peace in the land.” and chapter 14 ends with, “Then the land was free of war.”

Don’t you long for the time when peace will reign?

Jesus is called “The Prince of Peace”. There will come a day when there is no more war, no more strife. No more brother against brother, no more black against white. No more left against right. Jesus is coming, beloved, to bring an end to all of these things.

You see, the true enemy is the one who told the first lie in the Garden of Eden. It isn’t racism. It isn’t economic disparity. It isn’t a political system. It is Satan. He has spent nearly all of human history bringing discord and confusion and hatred. This most evil of all beings knows that his time is short. His rule over the hearts of mankind is coming to an end, and he is sowing as much destruction as possible.

But I believe that Jesus’ return is soon and very soon.

Oh beloved. Are you ready? I hope you are. If you haven’t already, ask Jesus to come into your heart and life. Ask him to forgive you. Ask him to create a new heart within you. Make him your Lord and your Savior. And when you do that, you will begin a new life. A life where, despite the turmoil around you, you can have peace within. Not a peace that the world gives, but a peace that comes from God. You can get a head start on the peace that will reign on earth when Jesus returns.
