Jesus and the disciples have their last supper together, Jesus is betrayed into the hands of his enemies, and Peter denies him three times.

Tension between Jesus and the religious leaders increases. Also, Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem takes place.

One of the highlights of today’s chapters is the fact that we are told to pray persistently, and that God hears and answers the one who prays in this manner.

Jesus tells some parables.

Jesus continues his ministry by healing and teaching. In addition, we see Him feed a crowd of thousands with only a few loaves of bread and fishes.

Jesus chooses the twelve, teaches about the Kingdom of God, heals many, restores life to the dead son of a widow, speaks to the Pharisees about hypocrisy, and forgives sins.

Jesus is tempted in the desert and then begins his public ministry. He heals, he begins calling his disciples, and some of the religious leaders are already getting their feathers ruffled.

John the Baptist tells the people to get ready for the coming Messiah. Jesus is baptized.
