A potpourri of psalms today, including a guest psalmist…Asaph.

Our Psalm reading today runs the gamut; from the despair of feeling as if God has abandoned the psalmist, to praising Him with enthusiasm, to warning unbelievers about what awaits them, to the foolishness of relying on riches.

We find that even David, a man of great faith (and failures), had times where he felt separated from God…as if God didn’t hear his cries for help. However, feelings are not reality. David writes that God did hear him and rescue him. That’s a good lesson to remember when we are feeling doubts or separation.

David stresses God’s protection for the believer today.

Today we read Psalm 23. The Twenty-Third Psalm may be the most commonly read chapter of the entire Bible.

David praises God for His faithfulness.

King David expresses his faith in God even in the midst of difficulties.

The Book of Psalms is the longest book in the Bible, with the shortest chapter and the longest chapter. In most Bibles, the longest chapter, which is in the middle of the book, is also the middle of the Bible.
