Matthew 11:25 again…

At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the people who are wise and smart. But you have shown them to those who are like little children.
Matthew 11:25

Why do you suppose Jesus thanked the Father for hiding the truth of who He was from the “wise and smart”? I actually like the way it’s translated in the NLT even better: “those who think themselves wise and clever”.

I’m pretty sure it’s because those are the people with prideful hearts. Those who are prideful rarely, if ever, come to a saving knowledge of Christ because they don’t see their need of a Savior.

Some people think they are so smart, they think themselves right out of Heaven.

Yes, we can be intelligent, and we can think deeply about things of faith, but in the end, we must have faith. To have a child like faith is required. But make no mistake, a child like faith is not a childish faith. There is a difference. We are called to be child like in our faith, but Paul mentioned in 1 Corinthians 13 that he put away childISH things.

Don’t let prideful thinking keep you from Heaven, beloved.
