Lifespring! Family Bible

We’ll be reading Genesis 13 and 14 from the New American Standard version today, and we’ll see Abram’s generosity to his nephew, Lot. Understand that at this point, Abram is still waiting for God to fulfill His promise of a son. Lot, being his nephew, is the closest thing Abram has to a son. This might account for his giving Lot the choice we are about to read about.

May God bless the reading of His Word.

Something else to notice from our reading is that in chapter 13 we are told that the men of Sodom were very wicked. And then at the end of chapter 14, after Abram’s victory and his rescue of Lot and his family, the king of Sodom told Abram he could take the spoils. But God had told Abram not to take even a thread or the thong of a sandal. God didn’t want Abram to keep anything at all from these wicked people
