In today’s reading, the people of Israel get closer to God than they ever have, and they’re terrified. And then, the most famous single document of all time is given.
Today we’re reading Exodus 19 from the New Life Version, and Exodus 20 from the New American Standard Bible.
READING
May God bless the reading of His Word.
Can you imagine being around when all this was happening? It is understandable why they would be fearful, right? What have they seen God do? Remember what caused Pharaoh to release them? Remember what God did to Pharaoh and his army? To this point, they have seen a God of judgement much more than they have seen a God of grace, even though they have been fed daily by the grace of God with the manna from Heaven. The mountain is shaking, it is engulfed with clouds and thunder and lightning. They hear a loud trumpet. Of course they’re fearful!
So what do you think about how we should react to God today? Should we approach him with fear and trembling, or are we to treat him like our best buddy? Let’s talk about it on the Lifespring Media Facebook group. LifespringMedia.com/facebook. Let’s chat.
Tomorrow, God fleshes out His rules and regs. I’ll see you then. May God bless you richly. I’m Steve Webb
