Welcome to a new week. I’m sorry I missed Saturday’s episode. My daughter-in-law is due to deliver my second granddaughter in just a few days, and my house was the venue for a baby shower, after which even more of the family came over to celebrate the birthdays of those in the family who’s day is in August. As you probably know, I record these episodes the night before, and the lovely lady LeeAnn and I were busy preparing for these festivities until the wee hours, after having worked all day. So I just didn’t have the energy to get a show out for Saturday.

Today we’ll read Numbers 17, Luke 12 and Psalm 27 from the Good News Translation.

So in Numbers, the Lord unmistakably told the people of Israel that the Levites were His choice to be the priests. The people *had* been complaining, so God showed them conclusively that the Levites were to be the priests. I’m looking forward to seeing how this plays out, aren’t you.

There were many things covered in today’s chapter in Luke. One of the points made by Jesus was that we should not fear those who can only kill the body, because after you’re dead, that’s all they can do. The One to fear is God, because He has the power to send one to Hell or to grant access to Heaven. Now, we know, taking the entire message of the Gospel tells us that we can *know* our eternal destiny before we die, right? We can rest assured that if we have put our trust and faith in Jesus that we have no reason to wonder where we will go after death. I think Jesus’ point was that there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to fear men because of what they can do to you. Be bold in proclaiming your faith in God. Be bold in speaking the truth. Be bold in living your life in a way that is pleasing to God.

And I do not think it is by accident that the following verses in Luke talk about not being ashamed to say that you belong to Jesus, because if you are ashamed to do so, He will not claim you before the Father. If you want Jesus to stand up and say of you to the Father, “That one is mine!”, then you need to stand up and say, “I am a believer and a follower of Jesus of Nazareth! He loves me, He died for me, He was resurrected and now sits at the right hand of God the Father!”

Don’t be timid. Don’t compromise. Don’t give in. Be bold!

I love Psalm 27, especially verse 4: I have asked the Lord for one thing;
one thing only do I want: to live in the Lord’s house all my life, to marvel there at his goodness, and to ask for his guidance.

That’s it. That’ll do it for me, too. Just let me hang out with you, Lord. It doesn’t get any better than that!
