Today we’ll read Numbers 26, Luke 21 and Psalm 36 from the New English Translation.

So in today’s reading of Numbers, we got another taste of where the book got its name. We had a lot of numbers, with the census taken by Moses and Eleazar, and a lot of names.
In Luke 21 we read about many of the signs of the coming of the end of the age. I happen to be one who believes that we truly are in the last days, and I see many of the signs that Jesus talked about being fulfilled before our very eyes. I have often thought about doing a podcast dealing with this subject, but I honestly do not have time at this point in my life. There are many places you can research the subject, and I encourage you to do so. One thing to keep in mind as you listen to teachers on this subject, however is this: there are *many* different interpretations of various parts of prophecy. Well meaning and learned people have studied these things over the centuries, and come up with sometimes conflicting opinions as to how things will unfold in the last days. If you decide to pursue this area of study, please understand that being rigid in your interpretation of end time events is risky. When you think you have it all figured out, something just might happen in world events that changes one or more key parts of your convictions. In my opinion, the best thing for you to do is find out what the best thinkers’ ideas are, form your opinions, but understand that you may be wrong. That’s okay. Jesus said that only the Father knows when the end will be. If you hear of someone giving exact dates, you know you’re hearing from someone who is stepping onto some very shaky ground.
Yesterday was a holiday here in the U.S. We observed Labor Day here at the Webb household be inviting family and friends over to have a meal and swim in the pool. At one point there were nineteen people in there, escaping the 100 degree heat. And I had the opportunity to throw the lovely lady LeeAnn in when she was not expecting it. I’ll pay for that later.
