Today we’ll read Deuteronomy chapter 12, John 19 and Psalm 58, from the New Century Version.
READING
May God bless the reading of His Word.
So I’m reading our chapter in John, and it occurs to me that as Jesus was before Pilate, a politician, he said something to Pilate that would be good for us to remember. It was when Pilate said to him, “Don’t you know I have power to set you free and power to have you crucified?” Remember what Jesus said? He said, “The only power you have over me is the power given to you by God.”
My friend, we are living in difficult times, when politicians seem to be making decisions, in many cases, against the will of the people. They seem to think that they are above the people. It would be good for them to keep in mind what Jesus said to Pilate. And it is a good reminder for us, as well. They are there because of the will of God. They are being used by Him to accomplish His purpose on the earth, just as Pilate was.
Something to think about on this first day of the work week.
Until tomorrow, may God bless you richly. I’m Steve Webb.
