In the beginning of chapter three, Paul talked about letters of reference. And then he said, “You yourselves are our letter.” What he was saying was that they were the evidence of his work. Nothing more was needed to validate what he was doing.

What kind of monument do we build with the work we do? Is it a fat bank account? Is it a fancy house? Is it a million followers on the latest social media platform? Or is it a legacy of faithful family? Maybe you’ve introduced Jesus to one, or two, or ten, or hundreds of people? The point is, is your monument going to be a lasting one?

Bank accounts and fancy houses won’t last. Lives brought to Jesus are eternal. Will there be people in Heaven who are there because you were faithful? I can think of nothing more fulfilling than that.
