Lifespring! Family Audio Bible - Steve WebbWell, the man whom two books of the Old Testament are named after had died, and his passing was dealt with in less than one full verse. Samuel is gone, and notably the entire nation came together to mourn him. To the very end, he had the respect of the people. They knew he was a man of God who was just and fair.

About this episode with Nabal. It was common practice for the owner of sheep to show appreciation to those who would safeguard his flocks, so when he told David to get lost, David’s response was not entirely surprising, although it was extreme.

It is good that Abigail was able to intercept David on his way to avenge the wrong that Nabal had done to him, because the enormity of what David was going to do was wrong. He would have killed many men who were innocent of Nabal’s foolishness. And of course, David appreciated Abigail’s wisdom and her bravery, which worked in her favor after the Lord dealt with Nabal.

Do you think we’ll hear more about Abigail is we read on? Only one way to find out. Stay with me as we continue our voyage through the Word of God.
