Podcast Introduction
This is History Tuesday. We’ll read 2 Kings 6-10. I’m calling this episode “Jezebel.”

Comments on
A couple weeks ago, we read 1 Kings 19-22, the title for the episode was Hearing From God. In that episode, we were introduced to Jezebel. Let me refresh your memory in regards to Jezebel.
We first read about her in 1 Kings 16:31 when she married King Ahab. According to Today’s Dictionary of the Bible, this was the first time a king of Israel had allied himself by marriage with a heathen princess. And as we’ve seen from our reading, the alliance was not good for anyone concerned. 1 Kings 16:30 says of Ahab, “…Ahab son of Omri did what was evil in the Lord’s sight, even more than any of the kings before him.” When he married Jezebel, he began worshipping Baal.
You probably remember that in 1 Kings 18 when Elijah had the showdown with 450 so-called prophets of Baal, and how God sent fire down from Heaven and burned up the sacrifice, all the water around the altar, and the 450 prophets? It was Jezebel who sent a message to Elijah which said, “May the gods strike me and even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you just as you killed them.” Elijah believed her and ran for his life.
In 1 Kings chapter 21, King Ahab’s neighbor, a fellow named Naboth, had a vineyard that Ahab wanted, but Naboth refused to sell it to him. Now I’ll read verses 4-8 of chapter 21:
4So Ahab went home angry and sullen because of Naboth’s answer. The king went to bed with his face to the wall and refused to eat! 5“What’s the matter?” his wife Jezebel asked him. “What’s made you so upset that you’re not eating?” 6“I asked Naboth to sell me his vineyard or trade it, but he refused!” Ahab told her. 7“Are you the king of Israel or not?” Jezebel demanded. “Get up and eat something, and don’t worry about it. I’ll get you Naboth’s vineyard!” 8So she wrote letters in Ahab’s name, sealed them with his seal, and sent them to the elders and other leaders of the town where Naboth lived. 9In her letters she commanded: “Call the citizens together for a time of fasting, and give Naboth a place of honor. 10And then seat two scoundrels across from him who will accuse him of cursing God and the king. Then take him out and stone him to death.”
So as you see, Jezebel was quite a piece of work, right?
Back to Today’s Dictionary of the Bible. Listen to what it says about her:
“Jezebel has stamped her name on history as the representative of all that is designing, crafty, malicious, revengeful, and cruel. She is the first great instigator of persecution against the saints of God. Guided by no principle, restrained by no fear of either God or man, passionate in her attachment to her heathen worship, she spared no pains to maintain idolatry around her in all its splendor.
Four hundred fifty prophets ministered under her care to Baal, besides four hundred prophets of the Asherah who ate at her table. The idolatry, too, was of the most debased and sensual kind.
Her conduct was in many respects very disastrous to the kingdom both of Israel and Judah.
Her name came to be used as the synonym for a wicked woman.”
Quite a legacy, huh? If there were a hall of fame for evil people, she would have been one of the earliest inductees.

Second Kings chapter six. Now the sons of the prophets said to Elijah, behold, now, the place before you where you are living is too limited for us. Please let us go to the Jordan And each of us take from there a beam And let us make a place there for ourselves where we may live. So he said, Go, then one said, please be willing to go with your servants. And he answered, I shall go. So he went with them. And when they came to the Jordan, they cut down trees. But as one of them was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water. And he cried out And said, Alas, my master for it was borrowed. Then the man of God said, Where did it fall? And when he showed him the place, he cut off a stick And threw it in there And made the iron float. He said, Take it up for yourself. So he put out his hand And took it. Now the king of Aram was warring against Israel. And he counseled with his servants saying, in such in such a place shall be my camp. The man of God sent word to the king of Israel, saying, beware that you do not pass this place for the air, a man’s are coming down there, the king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God had told him. Thus he warned him so that he guarded himself there more than once or twice. Now the heart of the king of Aram was enraged over this thing, And he called his servants And said to them, will you tell me which of us is for the king of Israel? One of his servants said, No, my lord, oh, king, but Elijah, the prophet who is in Israel tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom. So he said, Go And see where he is that I may send And take him. And it was told him saying, Behold, he is in Dothan. He sent horses And chariots And a great army there, And they came by night And surrounded the city. Now, when the attended of the man of God had risen early And gone out, behold, an army with horses And chariots was circling the city. And his servant said to him, Alas, my Master, what shall we do? So he answered, do not fear for those who are with us, or more than those who are with them. Then he Elisha prayed And said, Oh, Lord, I pray open his eyes that he may see. And the Lord opened the servants eyes, And he saw, And behold, the mountain was full of horses And chariots of fire all around Elisha. When they came down to him, Elijah prayed to the Lord And said, Strike this people with blindness, I pray. So he struck them with blindness, according to the Word of Elijah. Then Elijah said to them, this is not the way nor is this the city, follow me, And I will bring you to the man whom you seek, And he brought them to Samaria. When they had come into Samaria, Elijah said, oh, Lord opened the eyes of these men that they may see. So the Lord opened their eyes And they saw And behold, they were in the midst of Samaria. Then the king of Israel, when he saw them said to Elijah, my father, shall I kill them? Shall I kill them? He answered, would you kill those you have taken captive with your sword And with your bow, set bread And water before them that they may eat And drink And go to their master? So he prepared a great feast for them. And when they had eaten And drunk, he sent them away, And they went to their master, And the marauding bands of Arameans did not come again into the land of Israel. Now it came about after this that Ben Hey, Dad, king of Aram gathered all his army And went up And besieged Samaria. There was a great famine in Samaria, And behold, they besieged it until a donkey’s head was sold for 80 shekels of silver, And a fourth of a cab of doves done for five shekels of silver. As the King of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to Him, saying, Help My lord, oh, King. He said, If the Lord does not help you from where shall I help you from the threshing floor or from the wine press? And the king said to her, What is the matter with you? And she answered, this woman said to me, give your son that we may eat him today, And we believe my son tomorrow. So we boiled my son And ate him. And I said to her on the next day, give your son that we may eat him, but she has hidden her son. When the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes. Now he was passing by on the wall, And the people looked And behold, he had sackcloth beneath on his body. Then he said, May God do so to me And more also, if the head of Elijah the son of shea fat remains on him today. Now Elijah was sitting in his house And the elders were sitting with him. And the king said a man from his presence. But before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door And hold the door shot against him, is not the sound of his masters feet behind him. While he was still talking with him, Behold, the messenger came down to him And he said, Behold, this evil is from the Lord, why should I wait for the Lord any longer?

Second Kings chapter seven. Then Elijah said, listen to the word of the Lord, Thus says the Lord, tomorrow about this time, a measure of fine flour will be sold for a shackle, And two measures of barley for a shackle in the gate of Samaria. The Royal officer on whose hand the king was leaning answered the man of God And said, Behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, could this thing be? Then he said, Behold, you will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat of it. Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate, And they said to one another, why do we sit here until we die, if we say, we will enter the city than the famine is in the city, And we will die there. And if we sit here, we will die also. Now therefore Come, And let us go over to the camp of the era man’s, if they Spare us, we will live And if they kill us, we will bet die, they arose at twilight to go to the camp of they are a man’s, when they came to the outskirts of the camp of the Arameans, behold, there was no one there, for the Lord had caused the army of the era man’s to hear a sound of chariots And the sound of horses, even the sound of a great army, so that they said to one another, Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us, the kings of the Hittites, And the kings of the Egyptians to come upon us. Therefore, they arose And fled in the twilight, And left their tents And their horses And their donkeys, even the camp just as it was And fled for their life. When these lepers came to the outskirts of the camp, they entered one tent And ate And drank, And carried from their silver And gold And clothes, And went And hid them. And they returned And entered another tent, And carried from there also, And went And hid them. Then they said to one another, we’re not doing right. This day is a day of good news, but we are keeping silent, if we wait until morning light, punishment will overtake us. Now, therefore, Come, let us go And tell the king’s household. So they came in called to the gatekeepers of the city, And they told him saying, we came to the camp of the era man’s And behold, there was no one there, nor the voice of a man, only the horses tied in the donkeys tied And the tents just as they were. The gatekeepers called And told it within the king’s household. Then the king arose in the night And said to his servants, I will now tell you what the air man’s have done to us. They know that we are hungry, therefore they have gone from the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, when they come out of the city, we will capture them alive And get into the city. One of his servants said, please let some men take five of the horses which remain, which are left in the city, behold, they will be in any case, like all the multitude of Israel who are left in it, behold, they will be in any case, like all the multitude of Israel who have already perished. So let us send in See, they took their four two chariots with horses, And the king said, after the army of the man saying, Go And see, they went after them to the Jordan, And behold, all the way was full of clothes And equipment which the air man’s had thrown away in their haste. Then the messengers returned And told the king. So the people went out And plundered the camp of the era man’s, then a measure of fine flour was sold for a shackle, And two measures of barley for a shekel according to the Word of the Lord. Now, the king appointed the royal officer on whose handy lien to have charge of the gate, but the people trampled on him at the gate, And he died just as the man of God had said, who spoke when the king came down to him. It happened just as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, to measures of barley for a shekel at a measure of fine flour for a shekel will be sold tomorrow, about this time at the gate of Samaria. Then the royal officer answered the man of God And said, Now behold, if the Lord should make windows in heaven, could such a thing be And he said, Behold, you will see it with your own eyes, but you will not eat of it. And so what happened to him for the people trampled on him at the gate, And he died.

Second Kings chapter eight. Alicia had told the woman who Sunny had brought back to life, take your family And move to some other place for the Lord has called for a famine on Israel that will last for seven years. So the woman did is the man of God instructed, she took her family And settled in the land of the Philistines for seven years. After the famine ended, she returned from the land of the Philistines, And she went to see the King about getting back her house And land as she came in, the king was talking with the hazai, the servant of the man of God. The king had just said, Tell me some stories about the great things Elijah has done. And get hazai was telling the king about the time Elijah had brought a boy back to life. At that very moment, the mother of the boy walked in to make her appeal to the king about her house And land. Look, my Lord, the King hazai exclaimed, here is the woman now, And this is their son, the very one Alicia brought back to life. Is this true? The king asked her, And she told him the story. So he directed one of his officials to see that everything she had lost was restored to her, including the value of any crops that had been harvested during her absence. Elijah went to Damascus, the capital of Aram, where King Ben Hey, Dad lay sick. When someone told the king that the man of God had come, the king said to Hazel, take a gift to the man of God, tell them to ask the Lord, will I recover from this illness? So hazy, oh, loaded down 40 camels with the finest products of Damascus as a gift for Elijah. He went to him And said, Your servant Ben, Hey, Dad, the king of Aram has sent me to ask Will I recover from this illness? And Elijah replied, Go And tell him you will surely recover. But actually, the Lord has shown me that he will surely die. Elijah stared at Hazel with a fixed gaze until Hazel became uneasy. Then the man of God started weeping. What’s the matter, my lord, hazy, elastin. Elijah replied, I know the terrible things you will do to the people of Israel. You will burn their fortified cities, kill their young men with the sword, dash their little children to the ground And rip open their pregnant women. Hazel responded, how can a nobody like me ever accomplish such great things? Elijah Hansard the Lord has shown me that you were going to be the king of Aram. When he’s your left elation went back, the king asked him, What did Alicia tell you? And Hazel replied, he told me that you will surely recover. But the next day, hey, zeal took a blanket, soaked it in water, And held it over the king’s face until he died. Then Hazel became the next king of Aram. Jehoram, son of King Jehoshaphat of Judah began to rule over Judah And the fifth year of the reign of Joram, son of Ahab king of Israel. Jehoram was 32 years old when he became king, And he reigned in Jerusalem eight years. But Jehoram follow the example of the kings of Israel, And was as wicked as King Ahab, for he had married one of Ahab’s daughters. So Jehoram did what was evil And the Lord site. But the Lord did not want to destroy Judah, for he had promised his servant David that his descendants would continue to rule shining like a lamp forever. During Jehoram his reign, the Edomites revolted against Judah in Crown their own king. So Jehoram went with all his chariots to attack the town of Zehr, the Edomites surrounded him at his cherried commanders, but he went out at night And attacked them under cover of darkness. But your horns army deserted him And fled to their homes. So eat him has been independent from Judah to this day. The town of Libnah also revolted about the same time, the rest of the events And Jehoram drain And everything he did a recorded in the Book of the history of the kings of Judah. When Jehoram died, he was buried with his ancestors in the city of David. Then his son a Hosea became the next king. A his is Anna Jehoram began to rule over Judah in the 12th year of the reign of Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel. A Messiah was 22 years old when he became king, And he reigned in Jerusalem one year, his mother was Atha, Leia, a granddaughter of King aamra of Israel. He has I have followed the evil example of King Ahab’s family. He did what was evil in the Lord site, just as Ahab’s family had done, for he was related by marriage to the family of Ahab. Hey, his I had joined Joram son of Ahab in his war against King Hayes, you’ll have Aram at Ramoth Gilead, when the era man’s wounded King Joram in the battle, he returned to jazz Israel to recover from the wounds he had received at Ramoth. Because Jordan was wounded King a messiah Judah went to Jack Israel to visit him.

So the young prophet did is he was told And went to Ramoth Gilead. When he arrived there he found Jay who’s sitting around with the other army officers. I have a message for you, Commander. He’s That, for which one of us, Jay who asked for you, Commander, he replied. So Jay, you left the others And went into the house. Then the young prophet poured the oil over Jay his head And said, This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says, I anoint you king over the Lord’s people, Israel, you were to destroy the family of Ahab your master. In this way, I will avenge the murder of My prophets And all the Lord’s servants who were killed by Jezebel, the entire family of Ahab must be wiped out. I will destroy every one of his male descendants, slave And free alike anywhere in Israel. I will destroy the family of Ahab as I destroyed the families of Jeroboam, son of knee bat, And obey Usha SON OF A hija. dogs will eat Ahab’s wife Jezebel at the plot of land in Israel, And no one will bury her. Then the young prophet opened the door And ran J, he went back to his fellow officers, And one of them ask him, What did that madman want? Is everything all right? You know how a man like that babbles on G. He replied, you’re hiding something. They said, tell us. So Jay. You told him. He said to me, this is what the Lord says, I have anointed you to be king over Israel. Then they quickly spread out their cloaks on the bare steps And blue the ram’s horn shouting, G hue is king. So G hue son of Jehoshaphat, son of nem. Shai led a conspiracy against King Joram. Now Joram had been with the army at Ramoth Gilead defending Israel against the forces of King hazy Aloevera. But King Joram was wounded in the fighting And returned to jazz Israel to recover from his wounds. So Jay, who told the man with them, if you want me to be king, don’t let anyone leave town And go to jazz real to report what we have done. Then, gee, you got into a chariot And rode to jazz real to find King Jaren who was lying there wounded. King Ahaz idea of Judah was there too, for he had gone to visit him. The watchmen on the tower of Jezebel saw Gu And his company approaching, so he shouted to Joram ice a company of troops coming send out a writer to ask if they’re coming in peace King Joram ordered. So a horseman went out to meet G hue And said, the king wants to know if you’re coming in peace. G he replied. What do you know about peace fallen behind me? The watchmen called out to the king. The Messenger has met them but he’s not returning. So the king set out a second horseman. He wrote up to them And said, the king wants to know if you come in peace. Again Gee, who answered? What do you know about peace fallen behind me. The watchman exclaimed. The Messenger has met them, but he isn’t returning either. It must be G Houston I’ve been shy for he’s driving like a madman. Quick. Get my chariot ready, King Joram commanded. Then King Joram of Israel And King a Uzziah of Judah, wrote out in their chariots to meet G Hugh. They met him at the plot of land that had belonged to name both of Jezebel. King Jerome demanded do you come in peace Gu, Ji, he replied. How can there be peace as long as the idolatry And witchcraft of your mother Jezebel are all around us? Then King Joram turned the horses around And fled, shouting to King Ahaz aiya treason a Uzziah. But gee, who drew his bow And shot Joran between the shoulders. The arrow pierced his heart And he sank down dead in his chariot. G who said to bid car is Officer throw him into the plot of land that belonged to today both of Jesu Do you remember when you And I were riding along beside his father, Ahab, the Lord pronounce this message against him. I solemnly swear that I will repay him here on this plot of land, says the Lord for the murder of neighbor that his sons that I saw yesterday, so throw him out on a boss property, just as the Lord said. When King a Uzziah Judas saw what was happening, he fled along the road to Beth Hagen, G he wrote after him shouting shoot him too. So they shot a Uzziah in his chariot at the ascent of girl near emblem, he was able to go on as far as Megiddo, but he died there. His servants took him by chariot to Jerusalem, where they buried him with his ancestors in the city of David, a Messiah had become king over Judah in the 11th year of the reign of Joram, son of Ahab. When Jezebel the queen mother heard the G he had come to Jezebel, she painted her eyelids And fixed her hair And sat at a window. When G Hugh entered the gate of the Palace, she shouted at him. Have you come in peace, you murderer. You’re just like Zimride who murdered his master? G who looked up And saw her at the window And shouted who was on my side, And two or three units looked down at him. Throw her down, Gu yell, so they threw her out of the window And her blood spattered against the wall And on the horses. And gee, he traveled her body under his horses hooves. Then Gee, he went into the palace And ate And drank. Afterward, he said, someone go And bury this curse at woman She is the daughter of a king. But when they went out to barrier they found only her skull, her feet And her hands. When they returned And told GQ, he stated, This fulfills the message from the Lord which he spoke through his servant Elijah from Tisch be at the plot of land And jazz real dogs will eat jazzy Bell’s body, or remains will be scattered like dung on the plot of land in Israel, so that no one will be able to recognize her.
Steve Webb 20:27
Second Kings chapter 10. Ahab had 70 sons living in the city of Samaria, so g he wrote letters And sent them to Samaria to the elders And officials of the city, And to the gardens of King Ahab sons. He said, The King sons are with you, And you have at your disposal chariots, horses, a fortified city And weapons. As soon as you receive this letter, select the best qualified of your master sons to be your king And prepare to fight for Ahab’s dynasty. But they were paralyzed with fear And said, we’ve seen that two kings couldn’t stand against this man, what can we do? So the palace And city administrators together with the elders And the guardians of the king, sons sent this message to G Whew. We are Your servants And will do anything you tell us we will not make anyone King, do whatever you think is best. G he responded with a second letter. If you are on my side, And are going to obey me bring the heads of your master sons to me at jazz real by this time tomorrow. Now the 70 sons of the King were being cared for by the leaders of Samaria, where they had been raised since childhood. When the letter arrived, the leaders killed all 70 of the king’s sons. They placed their heads in baskets And presented them to G hue which Israel a messenger went to G hue And said, they have brought the heads of the King sons, so g who ordered pile them into heaps at the entrance of the city gate, And leave them there until morning. In the morning, he went out And spoke to the crowds that had gathered around them, you are not to blame, he told them. I am the one who conspired against my master And killed him. But who killed all these, you can be sure that the message of the Lord that was spoken concerning Ahab’s family will not fail. The Lord declared through his servant Elijah that this would happen. Then Gee, who killed all who were left of Ahab’s relatives living in Israel And all his important officials, his personal friends And his priests. So Ahab was left without a single survivor. Then Gee, who set out for Samaria? Along the way, while he was at Beth ie kid of the shepherd’s he met some relatives of King a Uzziah of Judah. Who were you he asked them, And they replied, We are relatives of King Ahaz idea. We’re going to visit the sons of King Ahab And the sons of the Queen Mother. Take them alive, G who shouted to his men, And they captured all 42 of them And kill them at the well of Beth e kit. None of them escaped. When G he left there he met jonadab Son of recap, who was coming to meet him, after they had greeted each other G who said to him, Are you as loyal to me as I am to you? Yes, I am. jonadab replied, If you are G who said then give me your hand. So jonadab put out his hand, And GE who helped him into the chariot, then GE who said, Now come with me And see how devoted I am to the Lord. So Johanna DAB wrote along with him. When G who arrived in Samaria, he killed everyone who was left there from Ahab’s family, just as the Lord had promised through Elijah, then g hue called a meeting of all the people of the city And said to them, Ahab’s worship of Baal was nothing compared to the way I will worship him. Therefore, summon all the prophets And worshipers of Baal And call together all his priests, see to it that every one of them comes for I am going to offer a great sacrifice to bail. Anyone who fails to come will be put to death. But gee, he was cunning plan was to destroy all the worshipers of Baal. Then g who ordered prepare a solemn assembly to worship Baal. So they did. He sent messengers throughout all Israel, summoning those who worshiped Baal. They all came, not a single one remained behind, And they filled the temple of bail from one end to the other. And gee, who instructed the keeper of the wardrobe? Be sure that every worshipper of bale wears one of these robes. So robes were given to them. Then g he went out into the temple of Baal with jonadab, son of recap, G who said to the worshipers of Baal, make sure no one who worships the Lord is here, only those who worship Baal. So they were all inside the temple to offer sacrifices And burnt offerings. Now Gee, who had stationed at of his men outside the building And had warned them if you let anyone escape, you will pay for it with your own life. As soon as Gee who had finished sacrificing the bird offering He commanded his guards And officers go in And kill all of them. Don’t let a single one escape. So they killed them all with their swords, And the guards And officers drag their bodies outside. Then g Hughes men went into the innermost fortress of the temple of Baal. They dragged out the sacred pillar used in the worship of Baal And burned it, they smashed the sacred pillar And wreck the temple of Baal, converting it into a public toilet, as it remains to this day. In this way, GE who destroyed every trace of Baal worship from Israel. He did not, however, destroy all the gold calves at Bethel And Dan, with which Jeroboam son of knee bat had caused Israel to sin. Nonetheless, the Lord said to gee, you, you have done well in following my instructions to destroy the family of Ahab. Therefore, your descendants will be kings of Israel, down to the fourth generation. But G who did not obey the law of the Lord, the God of Israel with all his heart, he refused to turn from the sins that Jeroboam had led Israel to commit. At about that time, the Lord began to cut down the size of Israel’s territory. King Hazel conquered several sections of the country east of the Jordan River, including all of Gilead, Gad, Ruben And Manasa. He conquered the area from the town of Aroer by the Arnon gorge to as far north as Gilead And Batian. The rest of the events of G Hughes reign, everything he did, And all his achievements are recorded in the Book of the history of the kings of Israel. When Gee, who died he was buried in Samaria. Then his son Jehovah has became the next king, in all Gee, who reigned over Israel from Samaria for 28 years.
Steve Webb 26:44
A couple of weeks ago, we read first Kings 19 to 22. The title for that episode was hearing from God. In that episode, we were introduced to Jezebel. Let me refresh your memory in regards to Jezebel. We first read about her in First Kings 1631 when she married King Ahab, according to today’s Dictionary of the Bible, this was the first time the king of Israel had allied himself by marriage with the heathen princess. And as we’ve seen from our reading, that alliance was not good for anyone concerned. First Kings 30 says of Ahab, Ahab son of Andre did what was evil in the Lord site, even more than any of the kings before him. And then when he married Jezebel, things just got worse. He began worshiping bail. You probably remember that in First Kings 18, when Elijah had the showdown with the 450, so called prophets of Baal, that God sent down fire from heaven And burned up the sacrifice all the water around the altar in the 450 prophets. Well, after that, it was Jezebel, who sent a message to Elijah which said, May the gods strike me And even kill me if by this time tomorrow I have not killed you, just as you killed them. Perhaps surprisingly, Elijah was scared by that note, so bad that he ran for his life. And then in First Kings chapter 21, King Ahab’s neighbor, a fellow named neighbor off had a vineyard that Ahab wanted, but Nate both refused to sell it to him. And then what let me just read verses four through eight of chapter 21. So Ahab went home angry And sullen, because of NE boths answer. The king went to bed with his face to the wall And refused to eat. What’s the matter? His wife Isabel asked him. What’s made you so upset that you’re not eating? I asked a boss to sell me his vineyard or traded but he refused. They have told her a decibel said, Are you the king of Israel or not get up And eat something And don’t worry about it. I’ll get you in a box vineyard. So she wrote letters I’m still reading, maybe putting a little bit more drama in at this time. So she wrote letters in Ahab’s named sealing them with his seal And sent them to the elders And other leaders of the town where they both lift. In her letters she commanded, call the citizens together for a time of fasting And give nabe off a place of honor. And then see to scoundrels across from him, who will accuse him of cursing God And the king. Then take him out in stone him to death. Well, you can see Jezebel was quite a piece of work right. Let’s go back now to today’s Dictionary of the Bible And see what else it says about her. Jezebel has stamped her name on history as the representative of all that is designing crafty militias revengeful And cruel. She is the first great instigator of persecution against the saints of God, guided by no principal restrained by no fear of either God or man passionate in her attachment to her heathen worship. She spared no pains to maintain idolatry. Hurry around her in all its splendor. 450 prophets ministered under her care to bail besides 400 prophets of the Ashra, who ate at her table, the idolatry to was of the most debased And sensual kind. Her conduct was, in many respects, very disastrous to the kingdom, both of Israel And Judah. Her name came to be used as the synonym for a wicked woman. Well, that’s quite a legacy, isn’t it? I think it’s safe to say that if there were a Hall of Fame for evil people, she would have been one of its earliest inductees. I’d love to hear your comments. Call the Lifespring family Hotline at plus 1-951-732-8511 Or comment via boostagram or go to comment.lifespringmedia.com. Tomorrow, we’ll be Psalms Wednesday, And we’ll read chapters 81 through 83. Lester Graber came in with a $30 donation via Zelle and he sent this note, what a wonderful week we had on the Lifespring! One Year Bible. I appreciate you’re doing the commentary every day regarding Holy Week. Well, thank you, Lester. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I did too. God bless you. Thank you. And I have to thank those of you who are sending SATs, we’ve moved up a few slots over at fountain a few days ago, I mentioned that the Lifespring!. One Year Bible was at number 22, on fountains hot on fountain leaderboard. Well, as of today, we’re at number 17. Ea, can we get back into the top 10. The chart over there for fountain I think is a really good way for people to discover the show. So your SATs help the show in two ways, helping to support the show, of course, And helping others to discover it. It’s a double whammy value for value. So if you believe that God’s word is needed today, if the Lifespring! One Year Bible has helped you to stay on the word or if you’ve been encouraged in your faith, then I need you to support the show. That’s how value for value works. The shows only support is from the Lifespring family, there are no advertisers. And that’s why this show can’t be canceled or D platformed. And they can’t pressure me to water down the message because there is no vapor there. There’s only you. And I think by now you know that I’m not going to compromise the message of the gospel. If you believe that’s important, then go to Lifespringmedia.com slash thoughts. When you get there. You’ll see how easy it is to donate. Please pray about what God would have you send And be obedient to His leading. If you do that, then I’ll be able to pay the bills And keep doing the show. If you believe in what the Lifespring! One Year Bible is all about, if you’re receiving value from the show, then you know what to do.
