It’s been 40 years since the Monterey International Pop Festival launched the world into the summer of love, and this anniversary seems to be the one that is proving to be commemorative.Over those three days; June 16, 17 & 18, 1967 in Monterey California, amazing performances helped to launch the careers of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and many others.
On today’s show, you’ll hear some songs that were recorded there at the event, as well as excerpts from my own personal library of some of the other performers that appeared at this history making “happening”.
Plus, as someone who was just coming into my teens and was in San Francisco that summer, I tell you a few of my recollections.

Hey Steve,
I am so glad you did this show!!
At first I thought, “Oh goodie, another show about music from the 60’s”. But this was more than that. It was an exploration of the music and culture of the time. Entertaining and informative. Bravo!
